Shopping

The Agora and La Tienda shopping centers feature numerous shops and galleries as well as a variety of restaurants. During the summer, The Eldorado Farmer's Market offers fresh, local produce and food.

Schools

The Eldorado Community School is an elementary and middle school for grades K-8.

High School students attend the Santa Fe High School or may attend a charter or private high school in the City of Santa Fe.

Santa Fe also is home to two colleges: The Santa Fe Community College and Saint John's College.

The community college offers a variety of undergraduate programs as well as continuing education classes. Saint John's College is a world-class higher education program, offering both undergraduate and graduate degrees.

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION

Belicia residents are able to access public transportation to and from Santa Fe.

BUS SERVICES

The North Central Regional Transit District provide bus services throughout northwestern New Mexico, with bus routes servicing Edgewood on the south, Santa Fe, as well as Farmington and Taos areas.

TRAIN

HEALTH & SAFETY

Belicia has a Neighborhood Watch program, with a newsletter sent out monthly. You can subscribe here:

Belicia, and the surrounding Greater Eldorado Area, are serviced by the Santa Fe County Sheriff.

The Eldorado Fire & Rescue (staffed partially by volunteers from the community), which provides free inspection and consultation for homeowners to help prevent wildfires.

The La Tienda and Agora shopping centers are also home to medical, veterinarian, and wellness businesses.

OUTDOOR RECREATION

Belicia residents can take advantage of the close proximity to a variety of outdoor activities - walking and bicycling around our neighborhood, walking and hiking through the Galisteo Basin, camping and fly fishing in the Pecos River and Forest, skiing at Ski Santa Fe, and so much more!

Belicia History

Belicia Estates was part of the Cañada de Los Alamos Grant, a Spanish land grant dating back to 1785. Today, we are part of a neighborhood referred to as the Highway 285 Corridor, which is a 15-20 minute drive south of Santa Fe. The 285 Corridor is a vibrant community in its own right - with easy access to Santa Fe and includes Eldorado, smaller subdivisions such as Belicia Estates, and the historic villages of Lamy and Galisteo.

Eldorado, just across the greenbelt from Belicia Estates, is a 1970s era planned community with an emphasis on passive solar design. El Dorado Community School (a Santa Fe K-8 public school), the Vista Grande Public Library, and the Eldorado Santa Fe County Senior Center are located in Eldorado and serve all residents of the Highway 285 corridor. It is also home to two convenient shopping centers, The Agora Shopping Center and La Tienda, offering a wide variety of galleries, stores, services, and a weekly Farmer’s Market. Destiny Allison, co-owner and managing partner of La Tienda, was named the 2011 Santa Fe Businesswoman of The Year. She and her husband, Steve Ewers, have created a unique business community.

Lamy is a railroad town 7 miles south of Belicia Estates that was created in 1879 and still has Amtrak service today.

Galisteo Village is 12 miles south of Belicia Estates, nestled in the cottonwoods along the Galisteo River. Rich in local history, with many petroglyphs in the area left by the Tano Indians, the Galisteo Valley was known to every Spanish explorer and adventurer. The church in Galisteo was built in the 1800s but has roots going back to the 1500s. Galisteo is well known for its sweeping vistas and dramatic skies that have prompted many artists, historians, photographers and spiritual seekers to make it their home. Not to be missed is the annual Galisteo Studio Tour.
